Gospel for Today's City The Centre is grateful to The Jerusalem Trust and London-over-the-Border Council for supporting this exciting initiative to equip local Christians for faithful witness in a changing context.
· 1. To equip local Christians for witness in a multi Faith society – with a particular focus on neighbourhood issues; · 2. To strengthen relationships between congregations and clergy of different denominations and traditions, by shared theological reflection and action; · 3. To build congregations’ confidence in engaging with other faiths, in dialogue, social action and mission. Background: The Contextual Theology Centre had already been working with a range of local churches on these issues. The Centre’s activities in 2006 included courses and study days for lay people, and a monthly group where Christian leaders study the Gospels together. This group produces Gospel for Today – a newsletter for congregational use, relating the readings to the local context. Delivery: In 2007/08, the Gospel for Today’s City project is building on the existing work of the Centre as follows:
