Faith and Development: Theory and Practice Forum
26-27th November 2004 at St Edmund's College, Cambridge

Religious values are inextricably present whether as obstacles or powerful drives in development work: e.g. sharia law and womens empowerment in Nigeria, Hindu caste system and poverty reduction in India, Catholicism and economic structures in Latin America. The relationship between faith and development is a complex issue that is difficult to avoid in practice. Yet, this relationship has been little explored.

The aim of this forum was to explore this relationship by creating a fruitful discussion between the theory and practice of development.
