The Jellicoe Lecture
Every academic year, the Centre invites a prominent Christian thinker to speak about the relationship between faith and public life. The Lecture is named after Fr Basil Jellicoe (right) whose ministry in the slums around Euston Station exemplified the historic Anglo-Catholic commitment to social transformation.
The inaugural lecture was given by Terry Waite CBE in 2008 at the Centre.
The 2009 lecturer was by Principal of St Stephen's House, The Revd Canon Dr Robin Ward. It was given on Thursday 5th February (the 110th anniversary of Jellicoe's birth) at St Mary's Church, Cable Street, London E1.
As 2010 is the 75th anniversary of Fr Basil's death, the annual lecture has been replaced with a Service of Thanksgiving at which the Bishop of London will preach.
The Jellicoe Sermon
This is an annual sermon in Magdalen College Chapel, given by a Christian leader involved in community organising.
The 2010 Jellicoe Sermon will be preached by Bishop Doug Miles of Koinonia Baptist Church, Baltimore at 11am on Sunday 21st November.
Past Sermons:
2009 - The Revd Adam Atkinson (Senior Tutor at CTC and Curate at St Paul's Church, Shadwell)
2008 - Mgr John Armitage (Vicar-General of the Diocese of Brentwood and Fellow of CTC)
