Symposia
The Jellicoe Seminars on Community Organising
A series of seminars aimed at existing and potential Jellicoe Interns with leading academics from Law, Modern History, Politics, Philosophy and Theology. Speakers include Professors David Marquand, Markus Bockmuehl and CTC Senior Fellow Vincent Rougeau.
Present and Engaged: Congregational witness in a multi faith society
The Archbishop of Canterbury gave the keynote lecture at this study day a the Centre on 1st June 2009. The day explored five practices central to all Christian congregations - worship, evangelism, pastoral care, study of the Scriptures and working for social justice - with addresses by CTC Fellows Ann Morisy, Michael Ipgrave and Luke Bretherton, and responses from those in local ministry. Prayer and Prophecy: The Essential Kenneth Leech
A study afternoon and evening celebration on 15th June 2009 launched the first published output of the Just Communities project - a reader of work by this leading community theologian, with a foreword by Prof Alasdair MacIntyre. Details here.
Papers from the inaugural Seminar on 'Education, Faith & Citizenship
Copies of the talks by Prof Tariq Ramadan and Dr Robert Gilbert at this recent seminar are now online. The event was held on 22nd November 2008 at Magdalen College, Oxford as part of its 550th anniversary celebrations, and considered the role of faith in educational institutions - and they part they could play in working for social justice.
