Research Programmes

CTC offers a unique combination of grassroots involvement and serious academic analysis.  The aim is to bring theology - and other disciplines such as economics, geography and cultural studies - into a deeper dialogue with the inner-city context.

Christian theology and citizen organising

This centre is developing a research partnership with the University of Notre Dame on the theological and policy issues arising from Christian engagement in citizenorganising. This builds on the existing partnership for student placementsCTC will both feed grassroots experience into this process, and ensure its findings are made accessible to local congregations and clergy.

Faith and human development

The Human Capability and Development Association (HDCA) was launched in September 2004 to promote high quality research in the interconnected areas of human development and capability.  The Centre co-ordinates HDCA's 'Faith and Development' thematic group. This is a network of social scientists, philosophers and theologians interested in justice and poverty issues from a faith perspective.
